Today Living Group sheds light on housing need for essential workers

Today Living Group featured on City News for their housing initiative for front-line workers

We know how important it is to keep our healthcare professionals (and their families) safe during this time, and we are helping by providing our corporate furnished apartments to these heroes at subsidized rates. As the borders have closed, business travel has been reduced and so we have a perfect opportunity to help during this pandemic. Subsidizing housing is so important as these essential workers do not have to worry about infecting their families or roommates and can solely focus on the huge task at hand – keeping our community safe.

Our suites are fully furnished, with fully equipped kitchens, in suite laundry, all linens and towels (with spares), and private balconies.  We also include all utilities including phone, cable and WIFI. Additionally, our healthcare providers will see their fridge and cupboards stocked with fresh food, snacks, coffee and tea. We are also including cleaning supplies including disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer and even extra rolls of toilet paper. We hope that we can reduce stress for all of our guests and want them to feel at home!

Today Living Group is working hard behind the scenes to reach out to healthcare associations and all levels of government to assist our essential workers in subsidizing housing costs. So far, we have been able to help a large number of nurses, PSWs, and doctors with a place to stay while they fight COVID-19.

We would love to do more and wish we could offer fully subsidized units to out front-line warriors but need the help of associations and government to step up to the plate to help us with these housing and utility costs.

Recently, City News Toronto, picked up our initiative. Our hope is that hospitals, associations and other news outlets will learn about our efforts and shed light on the fact that housing for these essential workers is extremely important.

It is important to note that TLG is also stepping up our already stringent cleaning policies and procedures. We have suspended weekly cleaning to ensure our cleaning staff are safe. Upon each departure, there is at minimum 5 days in between reservations which gives our team ample time to fully sanitize the unit, paying close attention to all touch points.
